Among Volvo Trucks’ efforts to offer emission-free transport, there are already proposals such as the FL electric truck, introduced last year on the Spanish market, or its commitment to ecological fuels such as biogas and liquefied gas. . A third option is being added to its offer with the imminent arrival of the first trucks powered by fuel cells powered by hydrogen.

After years of development, the first trucks combining electric batteries and hydrogen fuel cells will allow a complete elimination of CO₂ emissions whatever the task at hand.

Hydrogen trucks will have a range similar to that of a diesel vehicle, about 1000 km, and a fuel loading time of 15 minutes. The total weight of the vehicle is 65 tons and the two fuel cells it uses can generate 300 kW of power.

The first tests are already underway in a closed circuit and in a few months will begin testing with customers. They should be on the market by the end of the decade.
