The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 might be cheaper than you think

Foldable phones are here to stay, and Samsung is leading the way in this type of technology. Your Galaxy Z family is a bestseller and we know the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 they are just around the corner.

The truth is that we already know almost all the secrets that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 hides through the various leaks that have occurred over the months. Also, with the presentation date getting closer, remember that it will be presented on August 10, it is normal that the torrent of rumors and leaks continues to grow.

Today it was the Korean portal The Elec, a benchmark media in the technology sector, which surprised us by reporting that Samsung was working on a new lamination method for its flexible OLED panels in order to lower costs.

Better design and cheaper: this will be Samsung’s next folding

A few days ago, Ice Universe, one of the most prestigious leakers in the sector, announced that the screen crease of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 would be less visible than that of its predecessor. And now we know why.

Apparently, this new manufacturing system manages to eliminate the bezel, reduce the thickness of the screen and lower production costs. To do this, as indicated by L’Elec”uses inkjet-like technology that sprays clear adhesive instead of requiring multiple layers of clear tape to be inserted, which is a time consuming process and is also almost ten times more expensive.

With him, Samsung manages to reduce the manufacturing costs of this type of panel, the main reason why this type of device has such a high price. By using this ink injection system through a liquid transparent adhesive OCR system instead of using an OCA (transparent tape) system, they will be able to lower the price of their foldable phones.

The biggest problem with OCA technology is that the manufacturing process was longer, so the advantages offered by the new OCR system to manufacture the screen of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold and the rest of the company’s foldable phones are remarkable.

As indicated by The Elec, Samsung Display, the division of the manufacturer in charge of the manufacture of the screens, has already received an order for OCR inkjet printing equipment for its factory in Cheonan, Vietnam.

For now it is beta equipment to be tested before embarking on large-scale mass production. Considering that the OCR process is 10 times cheaper than OCA, it is clear that the benefits are remarkable.

Finally, another of the improvements provided by this printing system is that the quality of the perforated cameras on the screen is improved, since the cut is made with greater precision.
